1:11 partners with various artists and speakers. But at any given show, you’re liable to see the following four.
1:11’s principal dancer and chief choreographer, Carolyn heads up the dance aspects of the ministry. Classically trained through the Royal Academy of Dance as both a ballet dancer and a dance teacher, Carolyn co-founded Soli Deo Gloria Ballet in 2007 and has become one of the ministry’s most recognizable faces. Prior to and concurrent with her work with SDG Ballet, she ran Daybreak Dance Studio for sixteen years, training dancers in British Columbia and Ontario.
Carolyn’s choreography has been called “superbly expressive,” utilizing influences from ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance. Award-winning recording artist Debbie Fortnum says, “Carolyn Currey is a dancer whose caliber I have not before seen in the Church . . . She is simply a gift to the Body of Christ.”
Christa Currey has played violin and fiddle for fifteen years, performing first with the St. Catharines-based orchestra Mercredi Musique and then as first violin for Soli Deo Gloria Ballet.
In 2008 she took over live music arrangement and band directing for SDG, transitioning in 2015 into music director for 1:11. Christa teaches violin from her home studio.
Speaker and author Mercy Hope joined the group as a camp speaker in 2011 and then as the head speaker for ODE TO THE BROKEN, a production that explores themes of brokenness, healing, and redemption.
In 2012 Mercy became one of our two primary speakers. Mercy’s love for God and for people shines through her compassionate, relatable, and deeply Christ-centered messages. Mercy is a biblical counselor and the interviewer for FaithTalks.com.
