This is our primary ministry: We offer readymade productions, 40-60 minutes in length, that explore the gospel story through dance, music, spoken word, and testimony. Perfect for Sunday mornings, special events, conference sessions, or outreach. These include Ode to the Broken (on brokenness and redemption), Who You Say I Am (identity in Christ), and special productions for the Christmas and Easter seasons.
2. Short presentations
If you don’t have an hour to devote but still want to bring the power of word-and-dance to your church, consider a short presentation. These run 10-20 minutes and use dance and word to tell the gospel story or invite people into worship. These can be great for midweek meetings or as a special conference session.
3. Worship team
Bring the beauty and power of dance into your worship service by having one of our dancers join your worship team for a song or two.
4. Talks (small groups, support groups, youth, etc)
After 8+ years of ministry all over the world, we recognize the power of just sharing what the Lord has done! We are happy to visit small groups, support groups within the church (e.g. Celebrate Recovery groups), your youth group, etc. to share our stories and what we see the Lord doing around the world.
We strongly believe the arts aren’t just for a chosen few, but are part of the image of God in all of us. If you have artists in your church you want to release, we are able to offer hour-long workshops to equip, empower, and establish in the Scriptures. Available workshops include:
- Dancing Your Worship with Carolyn Currey (this is an actual dance workshop including lots of movement!)
- Storytelling the Gospel with Rachel Starr Thomson and Carolyn Currey
- Writers Workshop with Rachel Starr Thomson (blogger and author of more than 20 books)
- The Scriptural Foundation of Arts as Ministry
6. Outreach events
Take the power of the arts outside the church! We have found that the visual and spoken arts connect powerfully with unchurched audiences as well as those inside. We’re happy to partner with your church in outreach. This might look like renting a festival stage, hosting an artist’s café or open mic, putting on a special event just for a demographic in your community—the sky is the limit. We have done everything from street-corner ministry (busking licenses usually needed) to prison ministry.
We are available to host weekend retreats focused on seeking out who God is and who we are in him. Retreats include times of worship, prayer, intensive Bible study, and fellowship. You provide the place and logistical help; we’ll provide the schedule, teaching, and retreat guidance.
1:11 productions make a unique and powerful contribution to any conference, but we are also available to provide everything you need for the core of an entire conference: keynote and workshop sessions, and multiple dance productions introducing and exploring key themes.
9. Women’s events
The beauty of classical ballet makes 1:11 a perfect fit for women’s events for all ages and stages. We have brought our productions to ladies’ teas, conferences, and retreats.
Between them, Rachel Starr Thomson and Mercy Hope have more than two decades’ worth of experience speaking, teaching, and writing. Both are available to keynote or contribute messages for any event.
And beyond . . .
Our desire is to partner with local churches to build the kingdom of God through revealing Jesus in a way that causes His people to fall more in love with Him, trust Him more deeply, and be empowered by the knowledge of His good will for their lives. Above are just a few of the ways we can do that—but we are open to your ideas too! Contact us to discuss the possibilities.
